November 11th, 2015
Sure, we’re a bit disappointed that the annual Symphony of Light is canceled for Merriweather renovations—but don’t worry, it will be back next year. In the meantime, there are plenty of other festive holiday events happening in Howard County this year!
From Columbia to Hanover, we’re getting the season started off right. Start new traditions and continue old ones with your family and friends this year!
Santa will be right here in Hanover, MD., and you can meet him at the Arundel Mills Mall (7000 Arundel Mills Cir, Hanover, MD). That’s right—from November 6 to December 24, 2015, you and your kiddos can bring your long wish list in and meet the jolly man himself (and of course, take a few holiday photos). Get excited!
Santa’s making an appearance in Ellicott City, too! Head to The Fire Museum (1301 York Road, Lutherville, MD), chat with Santa, then take a stroll through this charming little town. (Call 410-313-5131 for more information about dates/times.)
By the way, want to spend a day in Ellicott City? Our all-day itinerary should help.
Enjoy Holiday Afternoon Tea
There are few things classier than high tea in the afternoon—why not try a Holiday Afternoon Tea at Historic Oakland (5430 Vantage Point Road, Columbia, MD)? On Sunday, December 6, 2015, from 3:30 to 5:00 pm, you and your friends and family will enjoy scones, piping hot tea, savories, and desserts (catered by Sweet Simplici-Tea) to the sounds of live holiday music by harpist Kristin Meyer.
Tickets are $29 per person. Call 410-730-4801 to make your reservations before December 1!
Light Up the Night
We can’t really ever get enough of Ellicott City’s Historic District, with its quaint old-town charm juxtaposed with new-world stores. Make your visit even more magical on November 19, 2010; 6 to 10pm, when you head there for Candlelight Night in the Ellicott City Historic District. Explore historic sites at night, and start your Christmas shopping early this year!
Looking for more fun events at night? The Candlelight Tour at Waverly Mansion in Marriottsville (2319 Waverly Mansion Dr, Marriottsville, MD) is coming up soon, too! For one weekend, you’ll get to see the historic site decked out in holiday decor, while you enjoy refreshments, music, and a special Christmas decoration sale. Call 410-313-5131 for dates and more information.
Stay Up Late
Not ready to turn in? Ellicott City’s Annual Midnight Madness will take place on December 5 from 6:00 to 11:55 pm— it’s a super fun event for the whole family.
Meet Santa, sip hot treats, shop around for Christmas presents early, or head into a restaurant for “festive evening selections” for those late-night cravings. Oh, and let’s not forget the strolling carolers, actors, and plenty more…you’ll have to be there to find out!
So there you have it—plenty of fun holiday events to keep you busy this year—whether you’re looking for cookies, or hunting for gifts. Speaking of gifts, can you think of a better one than giving yourself the gift of a luxury apartment in Howard County?
