In 1972, a hurricane named Agnes swept into Elkridge, causing flooding on much of Main Street. In 2019, a coffee shop named Screamin’ Agnes opened its doors on Main Street, hoping to offer visitors a safe port in the storm of everyday life. This coffee shop is the brainchild of husband-and-wife team John and Lori O’Connor, who also operate a German restaurant and bar in the building’s basement. Screamin’ Agnes is an appealing combination of old and new coffee shop styles, with the artsy, community feel of coffee shops from the ’90s, alongside the organic, locally sourced food and small-batch roasted beans of today’s third-wave coffee shops.

In addition to the full range of coffee and espresso drinks (the cortado is a particularly popular choice) you’ll also find pastries, breakfast sandwiches, salads, and panini for breakfast and lunch. Doors open at 7 am, Monday through Saturday, and stay open until 2 pm.
