Check Out More Than Just Books at the Elkridge Library
February 20th, 2020
The Elkridge Library is a great resource for patrons of all ages, but one of its most compelling features is its DIY Education Center. Through this initiative, education and tools for DIY projects are made available to the public, no matter your existing skill level or access to materials of your own. Following the Howard County Library System’s three educational pillars of self-directed education, research assistance and instruction, and instructive and enlightening experiences, the DIY Education Center focuses on three primary categories: DIY Repair & Maintain, DIY Create, and DIY Adventure.
True to the library spirit, this program depends on patrons to follow the rules: it’s imperative that visitors check out DIY tools with an HCLS DIY library card and return them in the same condition for others to enjoy.
While visiting the DIY Education Center, be sure to make time for the Elkridge Library itself. Since being rebuilt in 2018, their appealing aquatic theme has captured hearts with the “Children’s Reef” youth section, home to countless programs and events, and the Spiny Dogfish Cafe.
